When a person joins an online website membership (i.e. gmail, manutd.com), after filling out his details, there's a small marker down below which asks "would you like to receive updates on bla bla bla" followed by some things you might like (sports, fashion etc.). If you tick the box, the website is allowed to send you e-mails about their affiliates that have something to do with their website and market their products and services. Thus we give them premission to market their stuff?
ReplyDeleteyea, i think you are right...
ReplyDeleteobtaining customer consent to receive infomation from a company...
quoted from Seth Godin, who coined and popularized [permission markwting], "turning strangers into friends, and friends into customers."
but i think not only mention to online website right?
Permission marketing as I understand,is evident specifically in e-marketing. It deals with permission seeking on the part of the marketers. To further illustrate, this form of marketing would send out an email newsletter to prospective customers seeking permission before proceeding or advancing to the next step in the purchasing process or let say I search for 'book on marketing', online book shops or search engines would have my permission to help or assist me in my problem.
ReplyDeleteI received a very interesting e-mail today regarding horoscope. All I had to do is write my birth date and a lengthy page will occur. No doubt I’m someone who just don't believe in whatever anyone says, I will always debate about it, but whatever was written on the page was very very accurate and below the page the author said, Dear Nisha, please give me you’re permission and I can write to you in details about you’re life and steps to improve and to avoid the problems you are facing now.
ReplyDeleteThen below the page, was this box where I have to click and say I agree and I give the permission and also I agree to pay the amount written there and she will write back to me about my future. In simple terms, I believe permission marketing is a way to get you’re permission to carry on a task but the permission is manipulated with proper structure that some people might get carried away to know more and are willing to pay that huge amount and the permission is giving.
